Tammy Leigh Kahn is a New England novelist writing adult upmarket, book-club fiction. Her work follows friendships that have lasted decades, marriages that have quietly changed shape, and the questions that arrive with age — about memory, identity, and how well we can ever really know the people closest to us.

She spends much of her time between Massachusetts and the White Mountains of New Hampshire, where the landscapes and small communities that inspire her fiction continue to shape the stories she tells. The historic inns of North Conway, the salt-scrubbed dockyards of Cape Ann, the cold light of a January morning over a frozen lake — these are her favorite places.

Before turning to fiction, Tammy founded several technology companies and spent years working at the intersection of technology and communication. She isn't interested in writing about technology for its own sake. What stayed with her is smaller and more personal: how the tools we live alongside reshape intimacy, memory, privacy, and the ordinary habits of a marriage or a friendship — and how easy it is to mistake being known for being understood.

Her novel The Light Behind the Mountain, an upmarket book-club novel set in New Hampshire's White Mountains, is currently in revision.
